Print symptom

Poor first-layer adhesion

The first layer does not stick, or geometry smears. Start with the surface, bed temperature, and first-layer speed.

  1. Inspect/clean the build surface before changing unrelated settings.

Build surface is dirty or contaminated

Clean and maintain the print surface using the surface-specific procedure.

  2. Verify material-specific bed-temperature guidance first.

Bed temperature is insufficient for adhesion

Use recommended bed temperature; if adhesion remains poor, experiment in small increments such as +5 to +10 C.

  3. Compare behavior after reducing only first-layer speed.

First layer is being printed too fast

Slow the first layers; Prusa suggests trying roughly 75% of the current speed.
