Layer separation

Layers split after they should have bonded. Check nozzle temperature, flow, and cooling.

  1. Inspect whether layers separate more easily than expected and compare with a small temperature increase.

Nozzle temperature is too low for adequate interlayer bonding

Increase nozzle temperature in small increments; Prusa suggests 5 C steps for PLA troubleshooting.

  2. Verify temperature/cooling first, then run a controlled flow comparison.

Insufficient extrusion flow contributes to weak layer bonds

If appropriate, increase flow gradually; the cited guide suggests 5% increments while testing.

  3. Compare with reduced cooling or a warmer/stabler environment.

Excessive part cooling or cold surroundings weaken interlayer adhesion

Reduce excessive cooling and/or use an enclosure for shrink-prone materials.
